Este evento, busca rescatar las costumbres del pueblo Muisca, donde se tenía como fundamento religioso el rito al sol, en donde Suamox Ciudad del Sol, fue para ellos, el centro espiritual más importante, por esto el 21 de diciembre día del solsticio se celebraba la fiesta del sol, en el que tomaban parte tributarios y peregrinos de diferentes pueblos amerindios.
Para estos días se desarrollaran las siguientes actividades: Recibimiento de delegaciones indígenas de Perú, Bolivia, México y Colombia. Conferencias y conversatorios relativos a la cultura Muiska. Recuperación de senderos Muiskas. Presentación del proyecto REFUNDACION DE LA CIUDAD MUISKA. Expresiones culturales de danza y música indígena Muiska. Recuperación de artes y oficios de la cultura Muiska (alfarería, telares, talla de carbón). Observación de los fenómenos naturales de la noche más corta y el día más largo del año producido por el solsticio. Muestra gastronómica Muiska. Ceremonias ancestrales
La observación astronómica determina el tiempo cíclico en las culturas amerindias y para ello se construían estructuras en piedra, así como el encuentro comunitario alrededor de los templos sagrados para el estudio de los fenómenos solares.
En algunos lugares de la geografía colombiana se demarcaron sitios considerados observatorios astronómicos. En la región boyacense tenemos dos lugares sobresalientes: uno localizado en Villa de Leyva conocido como el observatorio solar Muisca y otro de índole sagrado: El Templo del Sol.
Qué es un Solsticio
Es un fenómeno astronómico relacionado con la posición del Sol en el punto extremo Sur-Oriente Celeste (21 de diciembre) y el Nor- Oriente Celeste (21 de junio) de cada año.
La Whipala
Es una bandera antigua que reúne a todos los pueblos y además unifica los colores de las banderas actuales. Por su estructura y composición de los colores como emblema cultural constituye una forma simétrica y orgánica.
Sogamoso, con una población de 116.435 habitantes, localizado al nordeste del Departamento de Boyacá en el corredor industrial. Capital de la Provincia de Sugamuxi, se encuentra ubicada a 210 Km de Bogotá con una temperatura de 17 grados centígrados.
Es llamada la "Ciudad del Sol y del Acero" por su legado muisca; debido a la adoración del Sol en su centro sagrado: Templo del Sol.
El Museo Arqueológico de Sogamoso, fundado en e 1942 por el Doctor Eliecer Silva Celis; desde el año 2004 ha emprendido el camino de revivir la espiritualidad de nuestros ancestros, recreando el rito del ciclo solar en el solsticio del 21 de diciembre; para observar al amanecer la salida y la dirección de los primeros rayos solares, alineados al oriente con respecto a la ubicación del Recinto Sagrado; donde congregan, cada año personas que desean observar este fenómeno.
Se integran las Comunidad de Zampoñas y Flautas Urbanas con comparsas de 50 integrantes en danza, música y canto desde la noche anterior hasta el amanecer, con el objetivo de celebrar la Fiesta del Huan o del Nuevo año Solar Muisca en la Ciudad de Sogamoso, Museo Arqueológico "Eliecer Silva Celis", Templo del Sol durante los días 18 a 21 de diciembre de 2008.
Actividades
Se realizaran eventos de índole Espiritual, Social, Político, Económico y Cultural por taitas indígenas invitados de la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Putumayo y Amazonas, en rituales ceremoniales, danzas, pagamentos y ofrendas.
